The Role:
An ambitious and commercially-minded Director of Product Engineering is required to lead the company’s technical roadmap, manage key teams—including Software Engineering, QA, Application Support and SecOps Infrastructure—and oversee the transformation of its core product. This role combines hands-on technical involvement with strategic leadership, ensuring the product continues to evolve, remain secure, and deliver maximum value to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
– Lead the engineering strategy and roadmap, aligning it with overall business and product goals.
– Participate in technical architecture decisions, and reviews, setting high standards for code quality and innovation.
– Manage a distributed engineering team, including Application Support and SecOps Infrastructure teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
– Modernise the product’s user experience while addressing technical debt to maintain competitiveness.
– Drive AI exploration and innovation to enhance both internal processes and customer-facing features.
– Implement an open architecture for seamless third-party integrations.
– Collaborate with the product and other cross-functional teams to ensure efficient product delivery.
– Oversee security practices across the product and platform, ensuring a robust and secure infrastructure.
– Lead the Application Support team to ensure swift resolution of customer issues and system reliability.
Key Objectives in the First 12-18 Months:
– Modernise the product’s UI/UX and address technical debt.
– Implement open architecture that supports third-party integrations.
– Strengthen security infrastructure, ensuring the product is robust and secure.
– Drive AI-driven innovations to enhance internal processes and customer features.
– Foster a high-performance engineering culture across both development and support teams.
Candidate Profile:
– 7-10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3-5+ years in leadership roles. Experience managing application support and security operations teams is highly desirable.
– Extensive experience in modern development practices, cloud platforms, microservices architecture, and agile methodologies. Exposure to AI/ML is highly desirable.
– Proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams and manage both product engineering and infrastructure/security operations.
– Comfortable working in high-growth, fast-paced environments, particularly in startups.
– Strong understanding of security best practices and experience working with SecOps teams.
– Commercially savvy, with the ability to balance technical excellence with business goals.
